6-30 September 2013, in Uzhgorod there will be the "Druzhba Cup 2013" dedicated to the 50th anniversary of orienteering in Ukraine. In October 1963, the first All-Union Tourist competition was held near Uzhgorod. In total, 400 people from all over the USSR, including 40 Ukrainians, took part. This year, the athletes will be able not only to run a historic route, but also to meet with the participants of the first competition. Currently, they are actively seeking veterans of orienteering. This was announced at the press conference by the director of the Transcarpathian center of tourism Volodymyr Chepa, the Transcarpathian tourist information portal informed.
Also, according to the program of the competition, there will be sprint starts in the very center of Uzhgorod (Castle Hill).
About 1,000 athletes from 10 countries will participate in the competition. Representatives of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Russia, Kyrgyzstan have already applied. In total, invitations have been sent to 74 federations in the world.
