The Chairman of the Regional Council Volodymyr Chubirko held a meeting with the management of Uzhgorod, Mukachevo, Khust, Beregovo and on the implementation of the investment project to modernize the water utilities. Recently, many steps have been made to raise funds of European partners to update the utility companies of the three cities.
Thus, last week, the Chairman of the Regional Council Volodymyr Chubirko with the head of the EIB office in Ukraine Liliya Cherniavska examined the state of water utilities in these cities.
Europe is interested in upgrading sewage treatment plants, because we share river basins. The Bank’s offer is extremely transparent and reasonable – credit for 30 years at 0.4% per annum. Payments can be postponed for 8 years. This time is enough to not only significantly modernize water utilities, but also to install ebergy saving equipment that will allow to pay off the loan itself. If we confirm that the quality of waste water is significantly improved, the cities will receive grants or aid from the EU.
Volodymyr Chubirko at the meeting promised to continue to support the communities of these cities in the implementation the project. But he said, they must already start developing all necessary estimates. The Chairman of the Regional Council emphasized that it is necessary to develop clear work schedules and monitor their performance.
