On Monday, September 22, on the Day of Partisan Glory, in Uzhgorod, on Narodna Square, there was the ceremony of laying flowers to the monument of the Great Poet with the participation of the regional officials and veterans, participants of the Second World War, partisan and underground movement in Transcarpathia.
In Transcarpathia, the partisan movement began in 1942 and lasted until the liberation of the region and Ukraine. Thousands of Transcarpathian partisans, including the participants of the meeting, were fighting behind the enemy lines, and reviving ruined economy after the war.
The meeting with the regional authorities was attended by H.Plakhotnyk, I.Chyzhmar, I.Bihunets, B.Mazur, V.Panek, V.Rishko, M.Shcherban, G.Mishko, M.Mykovych.
According to the first Deputy Governor Andriy Serbaylo, this day is a tribute to those who were ruthlessly fighting against fascism during the terrible war years. After all, partisans and underground fighters, who were fighting fearlessly surrounded by enemy troops, without sparing their lives, brought the coveted Victory Day closer.
