The customs officer, who took 17,800 dollars bribe, and the Transcarpathian, who gave the money, will be judged

The Prosecutor of the Transcarpathian region has already sent to court a criminal case against the former chief of the department of the customs post "Tisa" at Chop Customs for solicitation and receipt of bribes amounting to 17.8 thousand dollars and the entrepreneur, who gave a bribe.
According to the investigating prosecutor for the region Ivan Bitlyan, on June 26, Transcarpathian prosecutors opened a criminal case against the chief of the department of the customs post "Tisa" at the Chop Customs for solicitation and receipt of bribes amounting to 17.8 thousand dollars. (Part 3. 386 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Also a criminal case against the businessman, who gave a bribe, has been instituted (Part 4 of Art.369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that in the evening of June 25 the chief of the department of the Chop customs in his apartment in Uzhgorod received from the businessman a bribe in the amount of 17, 8 thousand dollars. In exchange for this money the customs ofiicer promised by using his position to promote the smooth customs clearance of goods belonging to subjects of foreign economic activity entering Ukraine through the customs post "Tisa".

The sanction of the Part 3 of Art.368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine provides for punishment by imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years, and the sanction of the Part 4 of Art.369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine provides for punishment by imprisonment for a term of 4 to 8 years – informed the press office of Prosecutor of the Transcarpathian region.
