Recently, at some crossing points on the border with Hungary, travelers have had to wait in queues for up to 4 hours. Apparently, the situation on the Hungarian border has become unbearable for many people. People are trying to find a way out and do not understand the reasons. The publication Mukachevo.in, with reference to karpatalja.ma, publishes a commentary by the Consul General of Hungary in Uzhgorod Jozef Buhayla.
The Hungarian diplomat answered the question of the correspondent about the main reason for the long queues at the border crossing points. According to Jozsef Buhayla, in order to obtain more accurate and reliable information, he had to forward this question to the police of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg region.
– I received the answer that in the past there have been technical failures on both sides of the border. However, this problem is currently being solved. In particular, they have installed webcams so that people could monitor the situation on Hungarian and Ukrainian borders in real time.
However, the Consul General hopes that the situation will change for the better after opening of new checkpoints with Hungary. In particular, in 2016, the Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Hungary signed a statement on intent to launch a comprehensive program for the development of the border crossing network. It concerns not only the opening of new checkpoints, but also the modernization and repair of thus existing ones. Thus, in the spring of 2018, a new checkpoint "Nodpallad-Nagyhodos" will be opened in Vynogradiv district.
