Transcarpathian rivers are among the cleanest in Ukraine. World Water Day is celebrated on March 22. The State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine named the areas with the cleanest rivers. They say that the Carpathian rivers of Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi and Transcarpathian regions can be considered as the cleanest rivers in Ukraine.
The main reason why the waters of the Carpathian rivers are considered clean is that they are characterized by favorable indicators of the quality state due to the peculiarities of their hydrological regime formation.
In turn, the most polluted are reservoirs in Kyiv, Lviv and Khmelnytsky regions due to wastewater discharging by utility companies.
