The city authorities are trying to fix up Uzhgorod before the holiday: they are painting bridges

In particular, the railings on the pedestrian bridge and the so-called "second" vehicle bridge – on Ankudinov street – were hastily painted in the colors of the national flag.

This was reported by the newly appointed deputy mayor of Uzhgorod Ivan Shkyrta.

He wrote in his facebook that he had inspected the city to find out how the city is prepared to the Day of the Flag of Ukraine and the main holiday – the Independence Day.

And he criticized the irresponsible municipal managers for garbage and for improper mowing: "Here, right near the rails in front of the Consulate General of Hungary in Uzhgorod, blackberry bushes grow on the dam… I asked the head of the utility Ivan Dovbak – Why haven’t you cleaned the slope of shrubs, garbage and bones?! Who did you leave for? If there is no garbage, there’ll be no food for crows and magpie circling aroung! This is unacceptable! I ordered to make sure that by 7am tomorrow the whole embankment is spotless."

We’ll see whether the embankment and the whole city will be "spotless" not just for the holidays and for how long the new man at the City Hall will have the enthusiasm to deal with Uzhgorod utilities.
