As uzhgorod.in announced, the exhibition-competition "World of Easter Egg 2016" took place today, April 22, in the Museum of Folk Architecture and Life.
The event was organized by the Transcarpathian Art Institute (Rector – Professor Ivan Nebesnyk), the Museum of Folk Architecture and Life (Director – Gabriela Andyal) Transcarpathian regional organizational and methodical center of culture (Director – Hanna Drohalchuk).
The exhibition features 190 Easter eggs representing Easter egg making traditions of our region and other regions of Ukraine. Guests have the opportunity to see the works of famous masters of this ancient sacred art working in various both traditional and innovative techniques.
The jury consisting of renowned experts in folk art determined the winners in three categories.
In the category of traditional Easter eggs, Oksana Bilous (Kyiv) won the first prize, Maria Havavka (the village of Turyi-Remety in Perechyn district) won the second prize, the third prize went to Natalia Kovacs (Khust).
In the category of original Easter eggs, the winners are: Olga Zhuliy (Lviv), Natalia Janiszewska (the city of Zolochiv in Lviv region), Theresa Varga (the city of Uzhgorod).
In the category of innovative Easter eggs: Xenia Rybalko (Uzhgorod), Theresa Yacob (the village of Kraynykovo in Khust district), Kristina Hertz (the town of Chynadiyovo in Mukachevo district).
Famous art historians of the region Roman Pylyp and Vasyl Kotsan told about the history of Easter egg and its features.
