In Transcarpathia, people honored the events of the Great Patriotic War, marking the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the region
In Transcarpathia, on Tuesday, October 28, there was the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Ukraine and Transcarpathia from the Nazi invaders.
High officials of the region, representatives of the RSA, Uzhgorod city council, regional institutions and organizations, veterans’ associations, law enforcement and the military and the public laid flowers at the monument "Ukraine – to liberators" (near the state border of Ukraine) and "To volunteers of Transcarpathia – Participants of the Second World War" and took part in a rally on the Hill of Glory in Uzhgorod to commemorate the memorable events.
Oleg Samoilovych, combatant of 1941-1945, WWII veteran congadulated the audience on the memorable day and told about the heroism of those years.
Perhaps the most touching part of the celebration was the performance of young people who combined in the recited poem historical retrospective and contemporary events. The refrain of the poems was the words "That war ended long ago… And this war claims new lives." They concluded: "Heroes do not die! Enemies die! So it’s alsways been and so it always will be! You live forever and ever, and no one will forget your feat."
Then, the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Vasyl Hubal, the Chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional Council Ivan Baloha, representatives of local authorities, regional bodies, Transcarpathian Military Commissariat and public laid flowers on the graves of the ATO participants who are buried on the Hill of Glory and walked to the Eternal Flame to commemorate the events of 70 years ago with wreaths.
