Switching to daylight saving time: the body will adjust itself within a week

How to adjust your internal body clock in order to preserve your health?  The doctor-therapist Volodymyr Burlaka (Vynogradiv District Hospital) gives advice in connection with the switching to daylight saving time.

So what are the arguments "for" and "against" of this annual procedure?

– Switching of clocks has been carried out since 1981.    Some people support it for energy saving reasons.   Opponents, by contrast, argue that it adversely affects human health.  In the long run, in an individual’s life these savings are not so significant. But within a summer period, over the whole territory of Ukraine the economy is tangible.

                – How does this transition affect the biorhythms of the human body?

                – This is a purely psychological factor and we take it negatively. Why? Because we are forced to rise an hour earlier. But we have to take it for granted.  There are also myths. Specifically¸ that at that time, the number of road and other accidents increases – but those are unproven facts.  In spring, the condition of human body deteriorates, whether we switch clocks or not.  It is affected by other factors: solar activity and radiation¸ weather swings throughout the day, seasonal exacerbation of chronic diseases, exhaustion after winter, vitamin deficiency. All that together adversely affects the human body. So switching to daylight saving time is a purely psychological factor.  And within a week, our body and internal biorhythms will adjust to the new time.

                – Are there any aids to keep your tone?

                – You should do what you do on a normal weekday. Start with a contrast shower, a cup of black coffee. It is advisable to take herbal adaptogens in the morning after eating – ginseng, Aralia Manchu, Siberian ginseng.  During the day, you can also raise the tone with a strong green tea.
