At the meeting of the executive committee of Uzhgorod city council today, they approved to set the fare for transportation of one passenger by city buses at a rate of 7 hryvnias.
For students of secondary schools of the city, the fare for city buses will be 5 hryvnias during the school period, from September 1 to May 31.
The new tariff will come into force on August 1 this year.
During the discussion, the head of the economic development department of the city of Uzhgorod city council Pavlo Logvinov emphasized that the calculations of various carriers showed that the tariff should be more than 7 hryvnias, but the commission proposed to revise the level of profitability and suggest the tariff of 7 hryvnias for consideration by the executive committee. The Transcarpathian Regional Branch of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine confirmed the compliance of the draft decision with the existing regulations.
Oleksiy Kulya, the chairman of the Association of Passenger Carriers of Uzhgorod, told that entrepreneurs asked to revise the tariff as long as a year ago, but the decision was not made. And in general, in the past years such decisions have never been made on time, when it was economically feasible. As for compensation for the transportation of privileged persons, he noted: the city budget owes his company alone more than 7 million hryvnias.
