Stand-up is a genre of comic entertainment, which originated in the UK and became popular in the U.S. in the 1970s, it is a solo performance of a comic before an audience. Often specialized comedy clubs are created for such performances.
During these entertaining programs, a comedian communicates with the audience in the hall on relevant issues of the day, problems of humanity, often joking on viewers. The repertoire of stand-up comics includes, as a rule, original monologues, short genres, and improvisation with the audience. To amuse the audience, comedians may use various additional "tricks" – musical, theatrical or video fragments, sketches, even tricks. Some of the most famous stand-up comedians are George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Eddie Izzard, Eddie Murphy, Dylan Moran, Lenny Bruce, Jim Carrey and others.
In Ukraine, stand-up is not a very popular genre, and very often what is called "stand-up" has only a few features of the genre and in fact is not such.
So Uzhgorod guys decided that stand-up is undeservedly deprived of attention and are initiating in the regional center events on this humorous genre.
KVN players Mykhailo Lutak and Oleksiy Klimov came up with this idea. The boys say, "Stand-up is a whole new genre of humor in Transcarpathia. We plan to do everything in a very classic stand-up style. There will not be any surprises as such, but there will be a lot of humor. The host is Oleksandr Sverhun.This event is the first of its kind in Transcarpathia, we promise: it will be cool."
The first stand-up party will be held on May 23, Friday.There will be many interesting participants and equally interesting humorous surprises in the spirit of the best traditions of stand-up.
