Uzhgorod, as well as Transcarpathia as a whole, is a place of a special concentration of cultural diversity. It is evidenced by the pictures posted on his Facebook page by civic activist Miroslav Horvat. This time, it is about Roma traditions:
"To date, we have preserved good customs and traditions, which, unfortunately, other residents of our region do not know about. One of these traditions is putting May birches nears houses.
Today’s setting of May trees on the streets of our city, in particular neighborhoods of "Radvanka" and "Shakhta" in Uzhgorod, is another one of those good traditions of our Roma community in Transcarpathia.
Such May tree decorated with ribbons and balloons is set at the gate of almost every girl’s home as a symbol of purity, respect, love and beauty. And it’s very good that good traditions are preserved. Roma people of our region value and respect their customs and traditions. They are very good and are passed from generation to generation.
Dear friends, come to our celebrations and you will see it with your own eyes, and perhaps your stereotypes will change!" – Miroslav invites.
