Smugglers hit a Transcarpathian border guard with a car. The troops are tightening control

The operation of border guards, which was conducted on both sides of the state border between Ukraine and Romania, had dramatic consequences. As a result of being hit by a smugglers’ car, a border guard of the "Dilove" department of the Mukachevo detachment is in a coma.

The criminal activities of the smugglers were revealed by officers of the State Border Guard Service together with border guards of Romania last night, – the press service of the Mukachevo border guard detachment reported.

During joint operations, two persons and 10 packages of tobacco products were detained on the other side of the border. The search for the rest of the persons involved in the smuggling continued on the Ukrainian territory. Soon. near the Tisa river, border guards detained a man in a wetsuit. He was not carrying any documents, but he had a large amount of money that he had probably received for smuggling.

During the questioning of the detainee and confiscation of the money, another unknown person hit the head of the department "Dilove" with a car Audi. As a result, the border guard suffered serious injuries. The ambulance was called at the scene, and the border guard was taken to intensive care unit where an immediate surgical intervention was carried out. The border guard is in a critical condition.

The car, which hit the border guard, was detained, the driver fled from the scene, he has been identified. He is wanted by the police. The actions of the driver are classified as an offense under Part 3 of Art. 345 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Threat or violence against an officer of a law enforcement agency".

In connection with such violations, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has tightened the control of the state border, to protect the lives of the servicemen, the border guards will be using weapons within the limits of the current legislation.
