Scam with a “cheap” bus on the border with Romania failed – Transcarpathian customs officers confiscated it

A citizen of Ukraine reduced the cost of a bus by more than half.

In order to establish the real cost of the vehicle and the documents on the basis of which the customs authorities of Romania cleared the importation of the vehicle from the European Union to Ukraine, Transcarpathian customs officers sent requests to the Director of the Cluj Regional Customs.

According to copies of the documents provided by the customs authorities of Romania, the documents provided by the driver contained significant discrepancies. Those were discrepancies in the name of the forwarder, the recipient and the cost of the vehicle – bus "SETRA S417HDH" released in 2003. For example, according to the documents provided to Ukrainian customs officials by the citizen, the cost of the bus was 342,274 UAH, and according to the documents provided by the Romanian customs officers, it was 713,072 UAH.

The citizen of Ukraine refused to explain his actions.

Thus, the Ukrainian moved the goods across the customs border at the customs post "Dyakove" of the Transcarpathian customs office, concealed from customs control by means of providing documents containing false information about the forwarder, the recipient, and the customs value of the goods.

These actions have signs of violation of customs regulations referred to in Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.

Currently, the report on violation of customs regulations has been drawn up, the bus was confiscated.
