Russians fight smoking: Russia follows the Ukraine’s example

On June 1, 2013 in Russia, the law on a total ban of smoking in federal buildings, universities, schools, hospitals, stadiums, restaurants, trains, train stations and near the subway comes into force. "Smoking rooms" will remain only in factories and offices. The antismoking bill was passed by the State Duma on Friday in the second reading, informs the Obozrevatel.

Under the new law, tobacco companies shall be prohibited to conduct raffles and sponsor the festival, and their correspondence with the authorities shall be published.

According to the amendments, cigarettes shall be removed from windows – only price lists for cigarettes will remain. In large stores there will be special departments where smokers can make a choice, without attracting attention of other shoppers. It is also proposed to ban the sale of electronic cigarettes and chewing tobacco mixture.

Recall that in Ukraine, the law banning smoking in public places came into force on December 16, 2012.
