Russians are leaving en masse for permanent residence … in Ukraine

31% of residents of Russian cities have expressed a desire to emigrate from the country. This is evidenced by the study conducted by the analytical holding "Romir".

Seven years ago, the quantity of such people was 19%. Most respondents (48%) wanting to emigrate are young people aged 18 to 24 years – informs Kyiv Pulse.

The number of those who chose Europe declined as compared with 2007 – 51% vs. 37%. The number of people wanting to emigrate to USA also decreased – 23% vs. 19%.

But the popularity of New Zealand and Australia is growing. These countries were chosen by 23%, which is 5% more than in 2007.

Russians also consider more original options for the future place of residence, for example, Japan and Southeast Asia. Number of people willing to relocate to South America increased twice during seven years. In addition, among potential immigrants the popularity of former USSR countries, such as Ukraine, is growing.
