Ruins of Templars’ Castle in Seredenye village is a real decoration of touristic places of interest in Transcarpathian region.
Unfortunately this unique historical monument is being seriously ruined. The castle lacks informational support and advertising. So in the course of years the Knights Templars’ heritage silently disappears without any notice due to general indifference.
The only inscription “Ruins of the Templars’ Castle” says much about the attitude to the historical monument. Only the ruins now represent the former greatness of the building. Knights and monks had built this fortress here due to its convenient location and commercial benefits. But nothing is eternal and after the Templars’ period the Castle had become the remnant of the past.
Mr. Thomas, who arrived here from Spain, notes: “The construction of the Castle is rather interesting as any other castles erected by the Templars. It’s very disappointing that your authorities do not pay much attention to it, do not support any reconstruction to make this place a touristic attraction. If at least something was done here, I assume that more tourists from Europe would come to visit the Castle as this place is really worth seeing”. Thus, it looks like the destiny of the Castle is of a prime concern only for the tourists and enthusiasts.
