On July 1, the new law on the fee for the use of road infrastructure for drivers of commercial vehicles weighing over 3.5 tonnes takes effect, – the Consulate General of Hungary in Uzhgorod informs.
Under the new law – as in other EU countries – the amount of payment for the use of road infrastructure for vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tonnes will be proportional to the distance of travel. The system known as "HU-GO" will be introduced on the Hungarian roads, motorways and main roads over a total length of 6513 km. It complies with the directives of the European Committee dd. 2004 number 2004/52 on the establishment of the Unified European electronic system of payment for the use of road infrastructure (European Electronic Toll Service – EETS).
The "HU-GO" system is applied only to vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tons The amount of payment depends on several factors.
More information about the new system of payment for the use of road infrastructure is available in Hungarian and English at www.utdij.hu.
