Researchers studied forests of the “Synevyr” Park (PHOTOS)

For two years, workers of the "Synevyr" park and the scientific staff of the Institute of Botany of the NAS of Ukraine have studied forests of the National Park to identify beech forests. This year, two groups of scientists were working for ten days and made 20 expeditions.

The purpose of the research is to explore and describe natural valuable beech forests. As a result, our forests will be included to the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Every day, Sc.D. Svitlana Ziman, Iryna Dudka, Pavlo Ustymenko and Dmytr Dubina accompanied by experts of the national park climbed into the mountains to explore and describe the pristine forests. The virgin forests of the National Park "Synevyr" have long been known only to employees of the park, and the question of their research wa raised in 2005. The total area of the forests is 6111 hectares, 2627 hectares of which are beech forests.

Plant groups, forming the forests, are typical, but few. And they are well preserved in pristine condition because they have never been touched by human.

In parallel with the study of forests, the researchers studied the rare species of flora in the "Synevyr" park.

The next expedition of scientists to study the virgin forests is planned in September.
