Protests worked: the construction of mini-HPPs was banned in Transcarpathia

In Transcarpathia, under the public pressure, the construction of mini-HPPs was banned. This was reported by the ZIK.

This decision was adopted by local deputies today at an extraordinary session of the Berehy village council, public activist Vitaliy Gregor informed.

As a result, the deputies abolished the previous decision of the village head, that gave permission to build a mini hydroelectric power plant on the Rika river. Thus, local residents, through numerous protests, managed to protect their river.

As reported by the media, today local residents even blocked the traffic on a local road. They demanded not to allow the construction of a mini-HPP.
