Prosecutors will inspect entertainment venues of the city

Prosecutors of Uzhgorod initiated raids to inspect entertainment venues of the city, because under the new law, children under 16 are not allowed to be in night clubs without parents

Prosecutors initiated holding interviews with the owners of entertainment venues and catering facilities to prevent the commission of offenses by minors. Also, the prosecution initiated raids to inspect the facilities that operate at night.

The reason for this was the enactment of the Law of Ukraine "On amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine concerning children staying in institutions that carry out activities in the areas of entertainment or catering at night" – the juvenile prosecutor of Uzhgorod prosecution office Irina Klimenko explained.

Under this Act, articles 180-1 and 20-1 have been added to the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences and the Law of Ukraine "On Protection of Childhood". Therefore, children under 16 may stay in entertainment establishments or catering facilities from 22.00 to 06.00 only in the presence of at least one of the parents, a legal representative of the child, or a person who accompanies the child and is personally responsible for him or her.

The owners and staff of establishments, in turn, must not allow minors stay there during the hours set by the law. They also have the right to demand from visitors proof that they have reached 16 years of age. In case of allowing a minor unaccompanied by a parent or responsible person to the entertainment venue from 22.00 to 06.00, the owners of such establishments shall be fined from twenty to fifty times the untaxed minimum income. In the case of repeated offense within a year, the fine will be from fifty to one hundred untaxed minimum incomes.

Due to these amendments made to the legislation, the prosecution of Uzhgorod initiated raids to inspect the facilities that operate at night.
