Prosecutor’s office controls the investigation into the arson of Uzhgorod Acting Mayor Victor Shchadey’s car

At night, law enforcement officers received a report of the fire in a car "Ford Focus", made in 2013, which belongs to the Acting Mayor of Uzhgorod Victor Shchadey – the pre-trial investigation into the arson of the vehicle has been initiated.

 It was established that it had occured in the general court, at the place of residence of V. Shchadey in Uzhgorod. The fire damaged the engine compartment, front door and front panel of the car, the driver and the front passenger seat and partially damaged the rear seat of the car. The inspection of the scene of the crime was carried out by specialists of the forensic research center at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region.

They found fire debris, the remains of charred cloth fabric, a plastic cup with the smell of fuel and lubricants, which leads to the conclusion of deliberate arson of the car. Investigators of the Uzhgorod city police investigation department registered this incident in the Unified register of pre-trial investigations, on the grounds of a criminal offense under Part 2 of Art.194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional destruction of or damage to property committed by arson) and initiated preliminary inquiry.

 Prosecutors of the city of Uzhgorod provide procedural control in this criminal proceeding, the course of the investigation is taken under control of the regional prosecution office.

 Note: Part 2 of Art.194 of the CC of Ukraine – deliberate destruction of or damage to property committed by arson, explosion or other generally dangerous method, or causing property damage in a large scale, or causing death of people or any other grave consequences – punishable with imprisonment for a term of three to ten years .
