Professor of UzhNU urges students: “Do not give up!”

I urge students of UzhNU to remember the words of W. Churchill "Never, never, never give up."

With these words, lawyer, professor of UzhNU Vasyl Lemak addressed to the students of the university. 

He admits: yes, it sounds like incitement, but this is the time exactly for this. And he said in his Facebook:

"Dear students of UzhNU, I urge you – never forgive anyone for humiliation, especially – violence. Against you or against other students or other people. There are people who believe that you can be incited, and I believe and I see that now you are a powerhouse of changes in the society. Today, student organizers of the Euromaidan in Uzhgorod asked me to provide a form of appeal to the Academic Council on the situation in the country. Respecting and supporting their position, as well as the position of the student government, I could not refuse them. Moreover, three days before, the "Statement of the scientists of UzhNU" was supported by the rector F.Vashchuk, vice-rectors, a group of well-known professors, assistant professors, lecturers, and I felt that in UzhNU there was no one with the opposite position regarding the beating of students and their participation in the protest. I know the position of heads of not only Lviv but also Kyiv leading universities, including the rector of KPI M. Zhurovsky. As I became aware, the Academic Council of UzhNU supported students only partially. The position of the Rector on the situation is known and bold – "we have to wait for elections at all levels" and "reset the government" (December 2, 2013). I believe these words, although my position is not that radical. Someone has to make a decision on the resignation of the government. But I fully support the "reset of the government".

We remind, that Vasyl Lemak was the first to take the initiative and invite teachers to support the student strike in UzhNU.
