Embassies and consulates general of Ukraine abroad stopped accepting applications for travel passports.
This was stated on the websites of a number of foreign diplomatic missions.
In particular, the Hungarian embassy wrote that acceptance of applications is suspended now and for an indefinite period; the embassy in Poland says that applications will not be accepted from Monday, March 16 for 1 week.
Also, the sources say that the documents have not been accepted since Friday due to restrictions imposed by the State Migration Service.
"The State Migration Service does not accept data from us" – a diplomatic source of the "Yevropeiska Pravda" said.
Neither applications for biometric nor those for "normal" passports are accepted.
This information is confirmed by the former Consul General in Istanbul Ukraine Bohdan Yaremenko. According to him, the suspension of document processing was a surprise to diplomats themselves. "Our embassies abroad stopped issuing passports on March 13 (and, in the best traditions, embassies received the appropriate instruction on March 11)," – he wrote in a post on Facebook.
It should be noted that the equipment for biometrics was purchased by the Foreign Ministry last year. It is not explained why "software installation" for it takes such a long time.
