Preparing for the census

Preparation for the next census in Ukraine is going strictly on schedule. 
Ella Libanova, the director of the Institute of Demography and Social Studies named after MV Ptukha, told this in the talk show “Echo of Ukraine”. According to her, the only census in independent Ukraine took place in 2001. And now we are preparing for the next All-Ukrainian census. 
“The preparation for the next census is going strictly on schedule, the money is being allocated from the budget… As of 2018, sufficient funds have been allocated. And two days ago, the President Zelensky signed a decree on the necessity to integrate electronic population registers,” – Libanova said. 
She noted that the electronic register is a supplement to the population census because the census is carried out every 10 years, and in very developed countries every 5 years. 
"In the meantime, you need to have normal records of the population, and those are electronic registers," – Libanova added. 
According to the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the population census should be conducted in December 2019. The program of the trial census was also approved.
