“Potential” member of Uzhgorod city hall threatens the editor of Uzhgorod.in

Transcarpathian journalist, editor of uzhgorod.in Alla Khayatova, an active participant of campaigns to protect Narodna Square from reconstruction, said that last night she had received threatening letter from Volodymyr Pavley, the author of the reconstruction project for Narodna Square. According to her, another active participant in discussions of the reconstruction of the square had also received similar letter.  

Architect Volodymyr Pavley today was present at the session of Uzhgorod city council, his name was included in the list of possible members of the executive committee.

"I ask people, who tomorrow will be taking part in the discussion and decision-making, not to forget the role of Pavley in the conflict regarding Narodna Square, not to forget the dubious legal context of this reconstruction, which is illegal, as well as just inappropriate and too costly. Please do not forget the behavior of that person in relation to the opponents, about threats and the whole campaign to discredit the defenders of Narodna Square – Alla Khayatova says – I think that first of all, that person should be judged in terms of morality. And then, there must be legal assessment of the case of Narodna Square."

According to Alla Khayatova, she is consulting with lawyers on how to respond to threats, but is too busy now to deal with it. "I would never have disclosed any personal correspondence, but I do it because people need to know about the behavior of persons who try to influence the processes taking place in the city."
