Police officers swear that they did not burn the Roma encampment

The police officers only rushed to help the Roma people when saw the fire in the encampment, informs the press service of MIA in Kyiv.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs denied the information that the law enforcement officials were guilty in the fire that occurred in the Roma encampment in Kyiv.

According to the verification, it was established that the police officers not only did not commit any actions against the camp dwellers, but even vice versa they took an active part in its suppression and tried to save the dwellers’ property, as soon as the fire was revealed by the Dnieper patrol squad. The patrol service battalion was called in order to assist.

‘We want to note that the relevant services did not receive any information regarding the fire and other illegal actions from the Roma encampment. Therefore, the Public Relations Department of the capital police officers has to state that the information about the police officers involvement in the encampment fire does not corresponds to reality and it has provocative character. Its moderators wanted to misinform the society and once again cast a shadow on the police officers by using provocative headlines and rumors’, – was said in the press service message.

It is known that the encampment, which consists of 50 people, including children, came from Transcarpathian and settled in a green area near the Bereznianska Street not far from the railway lines. Unknown came on the weekend there and set the tents on fire. Some Roma people said that they recognized the law enforcement officers in the attackers.
