As announced, we launched a unique campaign "Calendar of cherry blossoming in Transcarpathia" and are following the stages of flowering of these incredible trees in the cities of Vynogradiv, Uzhgorod and Mukachevo.
Prunus serrulata, Japanese cherry, sakura – all those are names of the cherries from the plum subfamily. It does not bear fruit, but blooms luxuriantly every spring, with shimmering colors from bright pink to white. In total, there are 16 species and 400 varieties of them, so there is a wide choice of what to see.
In Eastern culture, it is a symbol of female beauty and youth, in a sense also of knowledge and power, because these flowers have long been depicted on hats of students and soldiers in Japan.
So far, in Transcarpathia, sakuras are not in full bloom yet, except in rare cases with some young trees or those that defy the general rules. Usually, blooming lasts for about a week, but there is still time.
As of April 3, rose petals are already visible in buds, and, the weather permitting (a lot of sun and warmth), flowering may begin as soon as in a week.

Recall that in Uzhgorod, besides the first sakura, the magnolia has also begun to blossom.
