Party of Regions intend to amalgamate Transcarpathian villages. Ideally – up to 5,000 residents

On March 21, at the meeting of the Council of Regions under the chairmanship of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych they considered the issue of local government reform in Ukraine. And now, according to the decision of the Guarantor, the Concept of local government reform is being discussed in Ukraine.

According to Volodymyr Zakureny, the First Deputy Head of the Transcarpathian Regional Council, this Concept has a number of fundamental advantages. First, it is the ability to create a clear vertical management at three levels (basic, district and regional). Second, the division of functions and powers of state and local authorities. Third, the increase of local communities (up to 5000), allowing them to increase profitability of budgets, receive additional resources to resolve social problems and development problems.

– Transcarpathians should actively participate in this process, – Volodymyr Zakureny said. – We need to stop whining, and start working. Give your suggestions, now you have the chance. Regardless of political affiliation or ideological beliefs, we must together form the system which could effectively protect the rights of Transcarpathians at all levels, from village councils to the regional administration and council. And the proposed Concept of the local government reform can effectively solve this problem.
