Over the past day, dry grass was burning in Transcarpathia eight times

Over the past day, April 4, Transcarpathian firefighters were called eight times to eliminate fires of
dry grass. Most of the dead wood fires originated in Perechyn district: 2 cases were recorded in the
vicinity of Perechyn and one – in the village of Lumshory. In addition, dry vegetation was burning in
Chop on Chapaev street, in Khust on the bypass road, in the village of Bilyn in Rakhiv district, the
village of Verkniy Bystryi in Mizhhirya district and the village of Zabrid in Velyky Berezny district.
Those fires destroyed nearly 14 hectares of dry grass.
Fires in ecosystems can lead to destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure. For example,
on April 4, at 14:55, the Rescue Service "101" received a report of a dry grass fire within the village of
Verkhniy Bystryi in Mizhhirya distruct. Firefighters of the 4th State Fire and Rescue Unit, who arrived
at the scene, found a dry grass burning over the area of 2.5 hectares. They had to act very quickly,
because the fire was just 50 meters away from residential buildings and 150 meters away from an
overground pipeline. The firefighters localized the fire at 15:30 and managed to completely eliminate
it at 16:00. So, they flames did not cause any property damage – just burned some dry grass.
