Last weekend, border guards of the Chop detachment, at the checkpoint "Tisa" together with customs inspectors prevented two attempts of smuggling of tobacco products.
First, a citizen of Hungary wanted to try his luck. However, during the in-depth inspection, customs officers found foreign objects in the spare wheel of his car "Volkswagen". As it was found out later, the man had stuffed its with cigarette of a popular brand. According to the results of counting, it was found that there were 110 packs of cigarettes worth about 3,000 hryvnia, which together with the wheel were seized according to the law.
In another instance, our fellow tried to illegally move cigarettes to Hungary in a passenger car "Fiat". This time, border guards had to remove the windshield to get the tobacco products, because the man had hidden them in a specially made cache. The cache was equipped the between the engine compartment rear wall and the dashboard bulkhead and contained 174 packs of cigarettes.
The tobacco products and the car were confiscated. Their total cost was almost 97,000 UAH.
