St. Martin’s Day is celebrated around the world on November 11. In Transcarpathia, he is not only one of the most revered saints, but also the patron saint of the city of Mukachevo.
The inauguration of St. Martin Day will take place in the city center. Children with lanterns will march the streets of Mukachevo. Also, there will be a theatrical performance telling the legend of St. Martin, including the most famous episode when Martin cut off part of his coat and gave it to a beggar to warm him up.
The program of the celebration:
12:00 – 12:30 – Celebration ceremony near St. Martin’s Cathedral.
12:30 – 13:00 – Festive walk to the medieval town (near the town hall).
13:30 – 17:30 – Knight tournament, children’s soft sword fights, dance master classes, medieval locations.
17:30 – Formation of a festive procession together with knights, ladies, children with lanterns (near the central library).
18:00 – Festive procession.
18:30 – Celebrations near the Town Hall, speech of the Mayor.
19:00 – Fire show (new program).
