Oleksiy Petrov offers his own solution to the problem of the Uzhgorod Children’s Railway

Uzhgorod Children’s Railway. I saw that you tag me in your posts, create petitions, you’re concerned about this topic.

The most important thing is that the children’s narrow gauge railway should develop, and not just be a train that runs from point "A" to point "B".

Transferring it from state to municipal ownership will not solve the problem. We will only stretch the stagnation of the narrow gauge. To fully launch this facility, which can operate year-round, not just three months in the summer, we need to open new attractions, organize promotions, work with tourists, advertise yourself. 

I have identified the following steps on how to turn the Uzhgorod Children’s Railway into a place of interest for railway fans:

– I sent a letter to the Chairman of the Board of the "Ukrainian Railways" JSC Volodymyr Zhmak asking to consider further development of the child’s railway under public-private partnership;

– I invited to Transcarpathia an expert Piotr Henryk Mlodzyan who reanimates similar facilities in Poland. His visit is scheduled for the end of the week.

We are already negotiating with potential investors.

This is the path to development and success, not shifting the burden from one budget to another.
