Official information about the tragedy in the territory of Uzhgorod forestry

The official response of the Transcarpathian Regional Forest and Hunting Range Administration on the illegal logging at the Ukrainian-Slovak border.

On Monday, March 13, in the SE "Uzhgorod forestry", residents of the village of Tsyhanivtsi were illegally cutting trees affected by windfalls. As a result, one of the men was deadly injured and died at the site of illegal logging.

Forest protection workers examined the place of the accident, found illegally harvested beech trees in amount of 5 pieces, and drew up the report on inspection of the scene.

We also want to emphasize that the forestry does not carry out any logging activities in this area. The victim is not an employee of the SE "Uzhgorod forestry" and did not receive any instructions and authorization to carry out logging and clearing works. The documents of investigation of the accident are at the National Police department.
