Not an avalanche caused the death of one of the best climbers of Ukraine on Hemba

– Says Mykola Drobotenko, whose stories posted on his page in Facebook about the recent rescue of one of the missing on this mountain snowboarders and "commandments" for those who embark on snow-capped peaks were published by uzhgorod.in.When it became known that two people again had gone missing on the Hemba and one of them had a huge "mountain" experience, probably many had a question: why, how so? Mykola Drobotenko gave answers to these questions.
I wanted to remain silent until the burials of Viktor Ivanovich Hryshchenko and Victor Bahmet. But the stream of outright lies from media and officials has reached a critical mass. The last straw that broke my patience was the statement by the head of the press service of the Transcarpathian Regional Directorate of the MOE Natalia Batir, who said the following: "The search team found a place of avalanching, the avalanche, by the way, was quite large – about a kilometer (it could have been caused only by a shout)."
I do not want to comment on these words, and other nonsense picked up and spread by media. But the fact of planting and fixing thereof in the minds of people forced me to give information about the true state of affairs.
 
The possibility of any avalanche, not to mention a large one, is out of the question. That is why no traces of it could be found for days of searching.
Restoring the picture of events, we came to the following. On the way back home, guided by the compass, the pair in the fog encountered the snow cornice (probably due to poor visibility, not seeing its bounderies). Then the cornice collapsed and carried the men down. For fatal coincidence, at the bottom there was a chute filled with deep snow. Both were dragged in that chute. They got covered with rubble of the cornice, which crumbled, and these snow fragments dragged them slightly further. That’s it.
It was not an avalanche. It was a poor visibility, stepping over the cornice line (in the fog they were walking closely one by one), and the fatal collapse with falling into a narrow chute.
