The forecasts of Transcarpathian weather forecasters have come true – at night, a strong cyclone brought to Transcarpathia a cold snap, snow and a strong wind. It was the wind that led to the tearing of power lines and the fall of trees, leaving this night 81 settlements in the region without electricity supply.
According to the site of the head of the Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal, as of 9:00 am, Sunday, 40 settlements are completely without electricity supply, and 41 – partly. So far, the traffic on all four passes on the administrative border of Transcarpathia is free, but it is still snowing there, so the authorities ask not to drive on the mountain roads of the region without any urgent need.
At present, the police are already sending heavy vehicles near the Abransky Pass ("Kyiv-Chop" road) to waiting area until the normalization of the weather. Road services will work today at maximum capacity, and electrician crews are already working on repairing the broken power lines.
