The mystical drama "The Gate" is a film by Volodymyr Tykhy, which was first featured at the Tallinn Film Festival "Dark Nights".
The protagonist is an old woman Prisya, who lives with her family in the Chernobyl exclusion zone. Actress Irma Vitovska won the "KINOKOLO" award for the best performance in the leading role.
Old Prisya is a friend with mermaids, occasionally eats hallucinogenic mushrooms, and once during the Second World War even killed twelve SS soldiers. She lives with her grandson Vovchyk and sick daughter Slava. Suddenly, their quiet life ends – old Prisya receives a mystical warning about a catastrophe which will happen in the near future and which must be prevented.
From March 1 to April 30, the first film club festival "New Ukrainian Cinema" will be held in Ukraine. Anyone can hold the festival in their city – curators of film clubs and activists, who can offer space for shows, are invited to cooperation. To do this, you need to leave an application on the site of the project "Film Club. All-Ukrainian Network". The rights to films are granted for non-profit screenings.
The festival is organized by the "Arthouse Traffic" company with the support of the State Agency of Ukraine on Cinema.
In Uzhgorod, the movie "The Gate" will be screened on April 2 at 5:30 pm in the Transcarpathian Regional Scientific Library.
