The art of muralism is just emerging in this region, – the "Rubrika" tells about the murals of Transcarpathia. However, its uniqueness can already be seen in the existing wallpapers. The murals have a lot of patriotic content and spirit, which is characteristic of these lands. And another great feature is the combination of street art with an educational and volunteer component. And sometimes, they are just funny.

Uzhgorod

Library

Where: Voloshin lane, 20, facade of the Uzhgorod City Library

Creation time: 2015

Author: NGO "Ukrainian Student Union" and "European Uzhgorod"

Subject: on the facade of the house, they painted shelves with colorful books, which filled the gray walls of the library with a new life. The graphic design turned out so amazing that residents and guests of Uzhgorod gladly take selfies with the new monument of contemporary street art in the background.

Mural on the PADIYUN

Where: Studentska st., 8, wall of the Transcarpathian Regional Palace of Children and Youth Creativity "PADIYUN"

Time of creation: 2016, during the international festival "Alarm Graffiti Festival"
 Author: team of artists from Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia and the UK
 Subject: according to artists, this mural represents a natural element. It became a continuation of the PADIYUN’s interior style. The sketch was designed by four artists from Western Ukraine.

Where: the central streets of Uzhgorod, in the Passage, on Poshtova Square, and most of all – on the wall of the shop on Teatralna Square in front of the Puppet Theater

Subject: free. The author invites residents of Uzhgorod to come up with their own. 

"This is an appeal to passers-by, – the artist himself said. – In particular, with the picture on Teatralna Square, I would like to urge Uzhgorodians to think and read. Or just to come and see. Or do not pay attention at all. Everything depends on a person."

Subject: a portrait of a young girl and a log-driver on a raft, and also elements reflecting the beauty and uniqueness of the region – Carpathian Mountains, river gulls and butterflies. Flowers on the wreath have the colors of the Ukrainian and Romanian flags, which symbolizes good neighborly relations between the countries. It should be noted that this mural was created on the occasion of the Day of the Danube, which is celebrated in Tyachiv on July 1.

Subject: the mural on the wall of the school looks like a collection of children’s drawings, and it’s not accidental. In September 2017, as part of the opening of the Center for the provision of administrative services in Tyachiv community, a children’s drawing competition was held. The elements of the works by young artists, who became the winners of the contest, were used to make a sketch for the mural, which was painted by street artists from Ivano-Frankivsk.

"Ukraine above all"

Subject: children drew a police officer, painted on the wall of the Rakhiv district police department the patriotic inscription "Ukraine above all" and symbols of the state. In this way, youths showed their vision of the law-enforcement service and expressed their patriotic sentiment.

Subject: young artists painted the sun, sea, mountains, flowers, birds, ships – all that they had imagined, and Anatoliy Sakalosh composed these images into a single picture.

Little Prince
