A foster mother of the family type orphanage in Irshava district Mariya Kohut, in addition to her own five children, has nine foster children.
The resident of Velyky Rakovets said: although she and her husband officially registered the family type orphanage in 2005, she began working with disadvantaged children earlier, back in 2002.
– Then we set up a charitable organization. We took care of 25 children. Now, 14 children live under the same roof with us. The youngest will go to 6th grade in fall, older ones – will enter a college. This year we have four students of universities. So today I want to thank everyone who has helped in our business for all these years – those are the relevant services in our district, the closest people – Mariya Kohut said.
Today, July 11, the mother-heroine from Irshava district received an honorable state award – the Order of Princess Olha of the III degree. The head of the Regional Administration Oleksandr Ledyda during the awarding ceremony said:
– People like Mariya Kohut deserve special attention from the state. She sacrifaces her personal life to take care of children who were left without parental care. Every child in this country deserves to have family – and our common task is to create all necessary conditions for family upbringing.
