Memorial to the fallen from 12 countries is to be installed in Uzhgorod

As a part of Czech-Ukrainian cooperation in the neighborhood Shakhta’ is to be restored a military cemetery.
Today, April 2, in Uzhgorod press club the representatives of diplomatic institution and experts from Czech Republic told journalists about the premises of such a large-scale implementation project.
‘On the old military cemetery, located at Timiryazev Street, the dead were buried in The First World War during 1914-1919 years . In general 1003 people from 12 countries, including more than two hundreds of Czech Slovaks. Our colleagues from the Czech Republic managed to identify and find information about all the buried’, said the vice-president of organization ‘Search – West’ Bogdan Pylypov.
In order to start the work on the restoration of the neglected cemetery, the initiators of the project had to prepare all necessary documents. And now they have signed a tripartite agreement between the authorities of Uzhgorod, Czech side and Ukrainian search experts, according to which all the participants were informed about their tasks.
As Bogdan Pylypov said, currently the preparatory stage to the ground works is completed, the territory is now being cleaned from the wild plants.
After this Czechs are planning to restore and arrange all the graves and install obelisks on them, taking the saved one for the model and install the Memorial. The project which is starting for both countries, according to the experts from both states, is supposed to become an integral experience in the work of searchers. In fact with its help both Czechs and Ukrainians will have the opportunity to find out interesting historical facts from the life of our countries.
