Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn is not going to fight for his position after the parliamentary elections. This conclusion can be drawn from his statements.
Responding to the wish of a Facebook user to take over as the speaker of the new Council, Lytvyn said, "This chair imposes some obligations, while often deprives a person their own opinion and even personality. You do not belong to yourself. And today I have a huge responsibility to the electorate, which requires a different Modus Operandi."
When asked about his "political future", he replied: "Only work on the implementation of what people need. The campaign has taught me a lot. I think I will able to be engaged in scientific work more intensively."
