The position of the regional state administration on the construction of mini hydroelectric power plants remains the same – Transcarpathia does not need any constructions on the mountain rivers, which endanger the environment, expose the inhabited areas to the risk of flooding and can worsen the consequences of natural disasters.
– Yesterday, on January, 24th, I canceled four orders of the head of the Rakhiv District State Administration on the development and approval of detailed plans for the construction of mini-HPP on the Shopurka river outside the settlements. And soon, the regional state administration will file to the district administrative court a claim to cancel the decisions of the Velyky Bychkiv and Kobyletska Polyana town councils on the construction of mini-HPP on the Shopurka river within these settlements. According to the State Agency of Fisheries, there are rare fish species in the river, and the change in the natural environment caused by the construction of a mini-HPP will lead to their extinction. Local residents of Rakhiv district will have no benefit from the "investment projects", the "investments" will bring profit only to a few developers. As a central executive authority, we are obliged to protect the mountain villages from the risks and environmental problems, the consequences of which will be impossible to remedy, Hennadiy Moskal said.
