Local authorities deny information of cutting down the trees in UzhNU Botanical Garden

Recently in the internet space of the region appeared the information that in the Botanical Garden of UzhNU (in the array known as ‘Shakhtynskyy Forest’) allegedly trees are being cutting down. This information is unreliable – the press service of Uzhgorod city council informs.

According to the Director of the Botanical Garden of UzhNU Dmytro Soyma, on the territory which UzhNU is responsible for, no logging occurs. Neither does in Uzhgorod. Cutting down the trees is held in Uzhgorod district and forest areas of Uzhgorod state forestry (beyond the protected areas). The mentioned territory is adjacent to the area of the Botanical Garden which is the monument of landscape architecture of national significance.
