The General Director of Uzhgorod "Goverla" Ivan Shits told the "UF" that the team is not happy about the idea of 12 teams in the Championship of Ukraine.
– Tell me what will, for example, "Shakhtar" benefit from it? Surely, when we played with them, we would never concede eight or nine balls. Or will "Dynamo" benefit from it? Yes, I realize that now the championship is not so exciting – no foreign players, no money, but who is to blame? It destroys Ukrainian football – Transcarpathian, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Bukovina…
But what next? For two years, Ternopil, Chernivtsi will be without professional football. Who will benefit from this? And it is very difficult to develop it. We must do everything to keep the teams – both at professional and amateur levels. Look at the regional championships – seven or eight teams. Khmelnytsky region – eight teams, Ternopil region – ten teams, Lviv region – ten teams. And this is despite such a rich football history! Therefore, I definitely do not advocate the reduction, – Shits said.
