It is necessary to create three precincts for foreign Ukrainians

The Public Organizations of the Foreign Ukrainians urge to amend the electoral law in order to create three majority electoral precincts outside the country. This was announced by the Head of Ukrainian World Coordinating Council Mykhailo Ratushnyy and the Head of Ukrainian Union of Prydnistrovie named after A. Buta Leanid Tkatchuk, informs UNIAN. The relevant appeal signed by representatives of 37 organizations. According to M. Ratushnyy we are talking about people who transfer through the banking system $7 billion.

Ukrainians who live abroad offer to create the election precincts in the premises of an honorary consulates, Ukrainian cultural centers, in the deployment sites of peacekeeping forces, etc.   

M. Ratushnyy also reported that our fellow citizens have been applying with such initiatives since last year September. However, the absence of political will may disenfranchise more than 450 000 citizens.

L. Tkatchuk informed that 120 000 citizens of Ukraine, who reside in Prydnistrovie are able to vote only at the election precincts established at the Ukrainian Embassy, which is located in Chisinau. This was the reason of the request to create the election precincts in the cities with the dense Ukrainian population, in Tyraspol and Bendery.

In his turn, the Head of the CVU Alexandr Chernenko believes that if the legislation does not revise the provision which is related to the mechanism of providing with voting rights foreign Ukrainians than the occurrence of reasons for declaring the election illegitimate is possible.
