It happened! Finally, waste in Transcarpathia will be processed in European way

For Europe, it is cheaper to collect and recycle our trash here than to catch it in the Danube after each flood
The first line of a waste recycling plant was launched in Beregovo district

On the outskirts of the village of Yanoshi in Beregovo district the first waste recycling plant built for the EU funds opened. The total budget of the project "Implementation of the separate waste collection and disposal system in Beregovo district" (which in addition to the plant includes the arrangement of four landfills according to European standards) amounts to 973,523 euros. Before the construction on the outskirts of the village of Yanoshi, fertile soil over two hectares of land was removed and taken away, then power line was arranged and 1.3 kilometers of macadam road was built. The plant will be recycling 30,000 tons of waste a year, wastes from 40 settlements of Beregovo district will be brought there. The trial start of the sorting line took place with the participation of regional and Beregovo district officials.
– The problem of waste management is one of the most critical in Transcarpathia – the head of the Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal, who took part in the opening of the plant, said. – While in Europe it has long been solved. When the plant is working at full force, we will invite here chairmen of village councils to make them see firsthand how to deal with illegal dumps and make profit from recycling. It is very significant that the EU has invested huge sums in the construction of the plant – for Europe, it is cheaper to collect and recycle our waste here than to catch it in the Danube after each flood. Personally, I will do everything possible to have more of such plants in Transcarpathia.
