Uzhgorod City and District Court did not upheld the request of the prosecution on taking the first deputy mayor of Uzhgorod Istvan Tsap into custody. The judge Prydachuk announced the decision on pretrial restraint – house arrest.
Specifically, the so-called night house arrest, when the suspect can not leave his place of residence from 20.00 to 8.00.
The reasons are lack of evidence of a crime, positive reputation and strong social bonds of Istvan Tsap and absence of risk of evasion from investigation.
Especially since detention under the new legislation is an exceptional measure of restraint used when all the rest do not protect against risk. The pretrial restraint will be imposed on Istvan Tsap until March 30. unless, of course, the deputy mayor’s defense file an appeal.
