In winter, UzhNU will be warm: the campus will be heated by four new boiler rooms

For the first time in recent years, the University will be not left without heat during the cold season. In addition, 4 new boiler rooms in UzhNU will allow to significantly reduce the cost of gas and to regulate the heating.

The first modular boiler room has been installed near the main building of UzhNU. Soon a similar boiler room will be providing heating for student dormitories on Universytetska street. The third one will be heating the History Department, and the fourth one – dormitories on Mytna street.

Currently, heating can be provided with old boiler rooms. Under favorable conditions, the new ones will be launched one week after the installation.

"Thanks to the modern economic gas boilers, we can adjust heating depending on our needs. The university purchased them, although the equipment is not cheap", – Dmytro Soyma, the Vice Rector for administrative work of UzhNU said.

The most problematic in UzhNU is the main building at Universytetska street, 14. To reduce energy consumption, we have already replaced some windows there, others will be replaced soon, – Mykhailo Muchychka, the chief engineer of the university said.

Another advantage of modular boilers is that they operate automatically and require little maintenance. Moreover, the boiler room is close to the heated facility, which is much more efficient in terms of energy use, compared to transportation of heat over several kilometers – "Media center of UzhNU" reported.
