In the Dumka tract, near Huklyve in Volovets state forestry, a fire started in the forest. A group of misguided tourists descended from the slope and ended up in front of the fire. Also, the fire could spread to other parts of the forest…
The heat and the constant threat of fires in the undergrowth, where there is dry grass and bushes, was the reason for this legend for joint training of forest fire fighters and the State Emergencies Service in Transcarpathian region. Fortunately, this year there has not been any major forest fires in the region – but every day rescuers record up to ten cases of dry grass fire. Since the beginning of the year, in Transcarpathia 8 forests fires have occurred, about 65 acres of dry trees have burned down, healthy trees were not affected – the rescuers report.
The most important thing in elimination of forest fires is to prevent the fire from spreading over large areas. And it all depends on prompt and confident actions of fire fighters. Roman Moroz has been on this service for seven years. He says as a child he did not dream of becoming the rescuer, but it changed in the army, where he served in that unit. Now he is a fire fighter and stresses that the main thing is to act in concert, no matter how problematic the service in a mountainous region may be.
The leader of the training is satisfied with his subordinates. The coordination with foresters was successful, the fire was extinguished quickly, there were no victims. Now they hope that there will be no drought – the rain helps rescuers to have less work.
However, the high level of fire danger in Transcarpathia remains.
The trip of one fire vehicle to an incident similar to the forest fire drill costs the state more than 8,000 UAH.
